MISSION
ABOUT THE ORG
Founded in 1994, the Naz Foundation (India) Trust works to build a just and equitable society by empowering marginalised communities, including LGBTQIA+ individuals and people living with HIV/AIDS. The New Delhi LGBTQIA+ Centre is one of our key initiatives providing health, legal, psychosocial, and livelihood support. The Community Centre is the first of its kind in the country.
Moments
of Pride
A reflection of the impact of The Naz Foundation's work in Delhi
Calls were handled through the NAZ Dost Helpline over the last four months, providing counselling, psychosocial support, STI/STD counselling, and individual and family counselling to community members.
Capacity-building collaboration was undertaken with Sangram NGO to strengthen the knowledge of frontline workers and community members on the POCSO Act, the Domestic Violence Act, and the NALSA judgment interpretations for transwomen and sex workers associated with the organisation.
Testimonials
"A woman in her 30s, married and raising a young child, reached out to the Naz Dost Helpline after realizing her attraction toward women. She shared feelings of confusion and conflict, expressing a deep desire to live authentically while feeling bound by family responsibilities and social expectations.
Our Naz Dost volunteer provided empathetic listening and affirmation, reassuring her that same-sex attraction is natural and valid. Without offering direct advice, the volunteer created a safe space for reflection, helping her see that it is never too late to understand or accept herself.
Through this supportive dialogue, she began to acknowledge her identity with less guilt and more selfacceptance. This case reflects how non judgmental, person-centered listening can empower individuals to embrace self-awareness even within complex life circumstances.”
