MISSION
ABOUT THE ORG
Founded in 2015, Transgender Welfare Equity and Empowerment Trust (TWEET) Foundation is a transgender-led community organisation registered in India, which aims to encourage the community’s visibility by empowering them with the right skill set and mindset.
TWEET Foundation is currently based out of New Delhi and Mumbai. It was established by seven trans activists in 2015 to serve the young trans movement, especially the transmen community that faces extreme gender-based violence and has been highly invisibilized.
Moments
of Pride
A reflection of the impact of Tweet Foundation's work in Delhi & Mumbai
Days of a upskilling programme by TWEET Foundation helped participants build confidence and job-ready skills, as reflected in the experience shared by Mohit Gayal, an AASRA resident, who highlighted the programme’s supportive and inclusive learning environment.
MoU was signed with Hamdard Hospital to launch a healthcare skilling programme for transgender persons, under which 6 transgender candidates completed General Duty Assistant (GDA) training. Additionally, 1 transman received the Nanda Scholarship for hospitality training at The Lalit, and 5 AASRA residents completed advanced skilling in English communication, computer literacy, interview preparation, and personality development.
Spaces that TWEET Foundation runs the AASRA shelter home for transmen, providing a safe space for housing, skill-building, and empowerment, and launched the Digital Garima Kendra to enable independent access to essential government services and documentation.
Gender sensitisation sessions were conducted with a local church and through two sessions with Delhi Police at the Karol Bagh Police Academy, alongside policy-level engagements with the Deputy Director of NISD and the South West Delhi Welfare Department to strengthen institutional awareness of transgender rights.
TESTIMONIAL
"My name is Mohit Gayal, and I currently live at AASRA Shelter Home. After my surgery, I faced many challenges finding a job due to documentation issues. At AASRA, I am now updating my name and gender in my documents to restart my career.
Through TWEET Foundation’s 45-day skilling program, I gained new confidence and learned valuable skills. The supportive staff and inclusive environment at AASRA have helped me feel respected and motivated to grow. I now aim to improve my English and build a better future for myself.”
