MISSION

Building a vibrant Trans movement in India requires a multifaceted approach addressing the welfare, education, medical treatment, legal standing, and cultural well-being of transgender individuals. Key components include providing support systems such as shelters and healthcare, ensuring access to quality education, advocating for affordable healthcare services including hormone therapy and gender-affirming surgeries, and pursuing legal reforms to protect rights and recognition of gender identity. Promoting social acceptance through advocacy and positive media representation is essential. Collaboration among stakeholders and resource mobilization are critical for achieving these goals and advancing the rights of transgender individuals in India.

ABOUT THE ORG

Transgender Welfare Equity and Empowerment Trust (TWEET) Foundation is a transgender-led community organisation registered in India, which aims to encourage the community’s visibility by empowering them with the right skill set and mindset. TWEET Foundation is currently based out of New Delhi and Mumbai. It was established by seven trans activists in 2015 to serve the young trans movement, especially the trans men community that faces extreme gender-based violence and has been highly invisible. TWEET Foundation works to provide critical support to young trans men and trans women such as crisis support, short shelter stay, health and legal resources and skill building and inclusive employment opportunities. The organisation has been registered under the Mumbai (Maharashtra) Charity Commissioner Act since 15th May 2017.

TESTIMONIAL

"My name is Mohit Gayal, and I currently live at AASRA Shelter Home. After my surgery, I faced many challenges finding a job due to documentation issues. At AASRA, I am now updating my name and gender in my documents to restart my career.

Through TWEET Foundation’s 45-day skilling program, I gained new confidence and learned valuable skills. The supportive staff and inclusive environment at AASRA have helped me feel respected and motivated to grow. I now aim to improve my English and build a better future for myself.”

Mohit Gayal now aims to improve his English and build a better future for himself.

How can I donate to Pride Fund India?

We are inviting funders - philanthropists, family foundations, CSR, domestic and international foundations to commit and build an inclusive future for India’s queer community. We encourage funders to support our NGO partners located across India for their program and their administrative expenses via programmatic and unrestricted funds. We encourage our funders to support multiyear funding to deepen impact on the ground. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funders can collaborate with The Pride Fund to: - Access a curated, vetted portfolio of NGOs working on queer inclusion. - Simplify due diligence and reduce compliance and reputational risks through pooled funding. - Showcase impact on national and international platforms through Pride Fund’s partner networks. - Participate in cross-learning and co-funding opportunities with other inclusive corporates.

Are there ways to support Pride Fund India beyond financial contributions?

Yes, we are always on the lookout for volunteers from design, social media, and fundraising for our NGO partners.

What is the grant cycle and selection process?

In the launch year of 2025, we followed a participatory grant-making approach via a jury of founding patrons, anchor partners, and LGBTQIA+ practitioners. They reviewed the proposals collected through RFPs and selected grantees for post-deliberation. We will continue to take advice from this panel as we empanel more organisations. If you want to introduce your organisation to the Pride Fund India, please write to info@pridefundindia.org

Do you support early-stage organisations or only established ones?

We support organisations that are LGBTQIA+ focused, underfunded (small/grassroot/ mid-sized NGOs), and have been operational for at least three years.
